Westminster Chapel is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. As evangelical Christians, we gather together weekly to worship the Triune God, to hear from His word, to encourage one another in the faith, and to go forth into the world as salt and light (Matt 5:13-16). As conservative Presbyterians, we believe that the Bible is our ultimate authority in faith and life (2 Tim 3:16), that Jesus Christ is the only King and Head of the church (Eph 1:21), that local congregations ought to be governed by a plurality of elders (Acts 14:23), and that churches should be formally united to carry out the Great Commission (Acts 15; Matt 28:20). We at Westminster Chapel hold to the historic tenets of Protestant Christianity. We are committed to believing and teaching what is biblically true, rather than blindly following ancient traditions or modern trends. We hold to the ecumenical creeds of the ancient church as well as the Reformed theology contained in the Westminster Standards. For us, these are not mere relics of the past, but perpetually relevant summaries of the unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ. Our particular mission is to treasure Christ, build His church, and share His gospel in southern Alberta. Learn more about our beliefs.
Westminster Chapel began in 2001 when a handful of households from various Reformed backgrounds desired to form a church that was both faithful to the Bible and committed to sharing the gospel with its neighbours. In 2003, Westminster Chapel joined the Presbyterian Church in America, a growing denomination committed to missions, church planting, and the authority of Scripture. The Lord added to our number, and in 2010 we planted a daughter church, which was particularized in 2017. In 2019 we became vacant for the first time, and being preserved by God’s grace, we recently called our current pastor in the fall of 2022. The Lord has been very gracious to us over the last 20 years, and we look forward to what he has in store for Westminster in the years to come!
